Flame Retardant Against Molten Aluminium Splash
This class refers to how much aluminium splash the garment can handle before holes begin to form. Class D ranges from level 1 to level 3 depending on the quantity (g) of molten aluminium that can be splashed onto the garment. When welding, the clothing must be designed to protect against splashes from molten metal which includes design features such as cover pockets with flaps or verticle side pockets.
When testing, a membrane that is used to simulate human skin is applied to the back of the fabric. Once applied, measured amounts of molten aluminium or molten iron is applied to the garment until the fabric begins to deform.

- D1 - 100-200g
- D2 - 200-350g
- D3 - 350g or more
