Arc Flash Clothing, Sweatshirts

Arc Flash Protected Sweatshirts

Sweatshirts with arc protection offer a slightly higher CAT rating than our shirt range and are designed to be layered with the arc protected shirts underneath. If you had a shirt with a CAT rating of 6 cal/cm², a jumper with a CAT rating of 16 cal/cm² and a jacket with a CAT rating of 18 cal/cm² then you would achieve an Arc CAT 4 rating. Due to layering, you are able to achieve Arc 4 protection by using CAT 1 and two CAT 2 rated garments.

When purchasing arc flash clothing you will need to understand what level of protection is required for your industry. Arc protection is measured in cal/cm² (or small calories of heat energy per square centimetre) with CAT 1 providing 4 cal/cm² and CAT 4 providing at least 40 cal/cm².

  • Arc CAT 1 - >= 4 cal/cm²
  • Arc CAT 2 - >= 8 cal/cm²
  • Arc CAT 3 - >= 25 cal/cm²
  • Arc CAT 4 - >= 40 cal/cm²
