Protection Against Class F
Flame Retardant Against Contact Heat
This class refers to how long the garment can block generated heat when in direct contact with a hot substance or object. The bare minimum for a Class F is between 5 and 10 seconds which will give the wearer enough time to move away from the object which eventually will burn through the garment and cause serious injury. When testing the clothing for a class F grading, the object used is 250°C and it measures the time in which it takes for the heat to go down to the back of the fabric.
- Class F - Contact Heat
- F1 - 5-10 sec,
- F2 - 10-15 sec
